Global Fellows Program

The Global Fellows Program– funding undergraduates to create projects that change the way we see the world!

CSULB is a globally-engaged university that holds in its mission a vision of ‘changing lives by expanding educational opportunities, championing creativity, and preparing leaders for a changing world.’ This includes developing global perspectives by continuously broadening and deepening curricular and co-curricular activities. With the help of the U.S. Department of Education Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Languages program and the Haglund Global Endowment, the Global Studies Institute will offer up to three undergraduate Global Studies Fellowships for the 2016-17 Academic Year. Global Studies Fellows will be global citizens dedicated to finding new and exciting ways to engage CSULB students in global learning activities on campus. Each Global Studies Fellow will imagine, create, an execute a project of her or his own design to pilot an innovative new way for meeting this part of the campus mission and vision.

Global Studies Fellows will each receive a $1000 stipend for their efforts plus a $500 budget for piloting their individual projects. They will have the support of the Global Studies Institute, the guidance of the Institute’s director, and support from additional university leaders as determined, but the project will be his/her brainchild. Global Studies Fellows will be expected to attend two group planning meetings in the Fall and two in the Spring in addition to an honoring ceremony. There will be additional opportunities provided to the Global Studies Fellows for gaining new knowledge about international education and networking with leaders on and off campus.

Applications for Global Studies Fellows will be accepted from all undergraduate students at CSULB. Students may be any academic level but must be full time for the 2016-17 academic year.
