2018-19 CSU International Programs Resident Director applications are now available online! The application deadline is December 1, 2016.  The application form is available here.  

Each year the CSU International Programs recruits faculty to serve as Resident Directors (RDs) in a number of its study abroad programs. These positions represent one of the best chances within the CSU to work and live for a year in the following countries: France, Italy and Spain. As a faculty member appointed to be RD, you will have the advantage of:

 

  • Close advising and mentoring relationships with CSU students in the study centers;
  • professional faculty contacts in the host country; and
  • administrative experience abroad and at home.

 

  1.   RESIDENT DIRECTORSHIP in France, Italy, and Spain for 2018-19. Eligibility: ·        
    Tenured or tenure track faculty in a full-time teaching or administrative position (FERP faculty and lecturers are not eligible)       
    Appropriate terminal degree for the candidate’s discipline       
    Appropriate overseas experience in the host country required        
    Appropriate foreign language skills.  

    Qualities of successful resident directors:
    Near-native language skills in the language of the host country (able to communicate with native speakers of all social levels and write regular correspondence with university and government officials) Overseas experience in host country Understands the culture and traditions of the host country Knowledge of the academic system / culture of host country Can act as the liaison between the CSU and the host university to negotiate curriculum and student issues Student-oriented faculty with some administrative experience Commitment to International Education, especially within the CSU (promoting CSU IP programs on campus, involved in international education) May have led students abroad Possess flexibility, initiative and resourcefulness   Duties 12-month administrative director of the study abroad center or centers Academic advisor for all students in the program Liaison to the host university Responsible for student well-being and cultural guide for student success Represent CSU interests in the host country Helps meet the practical needs of students abroad (housing, banking, visas)
