CHLS Faculty Honored at LB Lambda Democratic Club

Maestra Griselda Suarez will be honored with the Jean Harris Person of the Year Award at the 34th Annual Human Rights Banquet. Jean Harris was a passionate and spirited political activist who helped blaze the trail for LGBT equality. Harris was committed to bringing the LGBT community out of the shadows and into the mainstream. She was raised and educated in Long Beach, earning a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Long Beach. 

This an annual event for the Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club. Long Beach Lambda Democratic Club was formed as a Democratic Club under the guidelines and affiliation of the California Democratic Party and the California Democratic Council with the purpose of furthering the human and civil rights of all minorities, especially those of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered people.

The event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach, on Saturday, October 17, 2015. Cocktail hour will be from 6:00pm to 7:00pm and dinner and our program will begin at 7:00pm. The Hyatt is located at 200 S. Pine Ave., Long Beach, CA 90802.
