What are your Research interests?
My current research interests include the prevention of predatory crimes such as sexual assault and inappropriate pursuit (stalking). I am also interested in a variety of social justice issues, and the development and evaluation of interactive curriculum.

What are your Teaching interests?
At the undergraduate level I teach courses in predatory violence prevention, culture, interactive performance, and storytelling. At the graduate level I enjoy teaching seminars in violence trends and prevention and trauma/healing.

Undergraduate: public speaking (large lecture), storytelling, performing literature, intercultural communication, interactive performance; Graduate: performance ethnography, trauma and healing, trends in violence prevention

How do you serve the department and the university and the community?
At the department level I have served on the graduate committee, Retention, Tenure, and Promotion (RTP) committee, RTP revision committee, and hiring committee. I have been the Graduate Advisor and Public Speaking Coordinator. At the university level I am a founding and current member of the Project Safe Committee that promotes programs to keep CSULB students safe from violent crimes. I currently serve on the campus assessment, response, and evaluation for students’ team (CARES). My community work focuses on the prevention of predatory violence, and I frequently provide interactive programs for community groups and universities throughout the U.S. The interACT Troupe under my direction has provided rape prevention programs for over 60,000 Sailors and Marines worldwide. I am an instructor at Gavin de Becker’s Advanced Threat Assessment and Management Academy and consult with several major corporations on the prevention of workplace violence.
