| I work for a small, private Internet company called Internet Matrix, Inc. (www.imatrix.com). Our company provides websites and webmarketing for Dentists, Veterinarians, and Chiropractors. My title is SEO Writing Specialist and my main function is to manage the writing content for our webmarketing clients. The writing content I manage includes keyword optimized web pages, blogs, and press releases. I distribute the assignments to a group of writers, edit the content and then handle posting the content to the websites. I also work with clients on any revisions they request.
Prior to coming on full-time with Internet Matrix, Inc., I worked as a freelance writer for the company actually writing the webpages, blogs and press releases. Once there was a need to have a full-time, in-house editor/specialist they hired me as an employee. I found the initial freelance writer job through a friend that worked at the company, but was also active on freelance sites like guru.com. Having a Masters in English was certainly a great foundation for writing high-quality, industry articles as a freelance writer. Due to my learned self-editing, I never had work returned to me for revisions. As an editor/specialist working inside the company, my English education makes it rather easy for me to articulate necessary revisions to our writers in a clear, concise manner. Overall, my English education from CSULB prepared me well for a career based in writing, editing, and manipulating the written word. Writing industry-specific pieces requires Internet research using reliable sources and the Professors teaching at CSULB Masters students certainly prepped me well for that. Not only am I able to locate good sources of information, but I feel able to evaluate their reliability as industry resources. Research and writing is fairly second-nature now and is a skill I use daily in my job.
