Please see below for an annual opportunity to get some significant research funds. You can see more details including the necessary forms for the opportunity from the BeachBoard, Geography – Graduate.
Graduate Research Fellowships: Candidates must be nominated by faculty; students may not apply directly to the college selection committee. Each college selects one fellowship recipient, who
I) must be a California resident and
2) must meet the criteria for financial aid eligibility.
Please note that those students eligible for financial aid should have filed their FAFSA by March 2nd. Nonetheless, CLA can submit up to three proposals, two of which can be from students not eligible for aid (including international students). The fellowship is an award of $4,500 each semester.
It is important to note that students receiving the need-based fellowship MUST enroll in at least 5 units each semester or they will lose eligibility for the fellowship. GS 700 does not meet this requirement.
What you need to do:
Review the application form and assessment rubric (attached and posted on the grad beachboard page).
Contact your supervisor or other faculty to discuss your proposal and a nomination.
Prepare your proposal and obtain the faculty supporting documents.
Submit to Geography by April 23, 12pm, in order for submission to the CLA Dean’s office.
If you have any questions, you can contact me until the end of this week, and Drs. Ban and Laris following that.
