Day 27: It’s Been a Great Program!

We did our presentations today. I was super nervous. It is so weird that we are all leaving today after being together for the past month. So, I wanted to say thank you Dr. Wechsler, Dr. Lee, Dr. Lipo and Dr. Becker for everything! Also, thank you to all of the grad students and my […]

Day 26: Poster Time

I spent pretty much all day working on my poster. I wanted it to look unique towards all of the other posters and I feel that I did just that. I am pretty sure that I got OCD about all of the alignments and everything. And because of that, I was one of the last […]

Day 25: Finally!

I finally got the supervised classification done and I feel so much better that I actually have something to produce. I spent most of the day working on them but I did it.
I originally was only going to do the supervised classification with the ALI imagery, but the pixels were too coarse to be able […]

Day 24: God Bless America

Today is the 4th of July. in the morning, I should have come into the lab but I accidentally sleep through it. That was unfortunate, but I still had a good day. We all went over to Dr. Wechsler’s for the afternoon. That was so much fun! We ate and talked and had a grapefruit […]

Day 23: Not Much Better

Yesterday, I tried to do a supervised classification and that failed so I had to scrap it. Dr. Becker wanted me to use the spectra readings to classify the rocks for the supervised classification and I didn’t have the spectra readings. Luckily Dr. Lipo had them and gave them to me but by the time […]

Day 22:Frustration

Today just didn’t go my way. Instead of getting the supervised classification done which was my only goal for the day, I wasn’t able to get anything done. Everything just did not go my way. I really hope I have something to show for my poster.

Day 21: From Being Surrounded by Beaches to The Beach

The whole day was pretty much dedicated to traveling. We left for the airport around 10am, amd spent 3 hours checking in. Then a 5 hour flight, plus a 3 hour time change, and then it took 2 hours to get back to CSULB. So, by the time we got there, we were all hungry. […]

Day 20: Last Day on Kauai

First, we got to sleep in! It felt amazing. After I finally started moving around, I started my packing and ate breakfast. We went to Poipu Beach in the afternoon and had a bbq there. after we were done, we loaded the bbq and Jake, Charly and I ended up going to dinner and shopping […]

Day 19: Life’s a Beach!

We spent most of the day at the beach. First, we went to a little embayment across from Prince Kuhio Park in Poipu and snorkeled for more data collection. After that, we went to Shipwreck Beach for the rest of the day. I was a pretty good and relaxing day.

Day 18: Presentations

We started off the day by getting to the lab early. We worked on our presentation for that day. Once we were done, we headed down to the Allerton Beach to do some paddle boarding for more data collection. Wes and I were the 2 that went out on the paddle boards and it was […]
