June 28, 2012 (Post for yesterday)
Yesterday was a half field and half lab day with a lecture at night. It was a pretty heavy day. Out in the field I went to the quarry and the cave to look for some plants to plot on my NDVI map. The quarry is a pretty weird spot, there are lots of native plants on the floor of the quarry, but on most of the plants there’s a thin layer of some moss looking thing growing over it; it looks insane! (picture coming soon) The cave is pretty much all native plants because it’s human-made, but it’s good to know what is in there in order to match it up with the NDVI. In the lab I again worked on bouncing around ideas for classification and put in some GPS points.
The lecture at night was pretty cool, it was the work that Matt Lucas has done for NTBG with ArcGIS and the creation of models. It was enjoyable.
