Project Presentation Day!

Today was a full lab day because we had to get our data together in order to compile our group presentation.  I gathered data from Kate to merge with mine, in the plotting of native plants in our study area.  I put in the shapefiles for this with the NDVI classification that I had and put it in a powerpoint.  Apparently my NDVI didn’t please some of the professors/Burney, but the way that I see it, it was, and is still useful because my classification system in which low biomass was native vegetation actually paired up with points that I had taken at random that happened to be native plants.  And the fact that haole koa, grass and the golf course were showing up as high vegetation is because haole koa and grass are extremely dense plants, nothing else can grow there and it’s extremely hard to walk through (filled with biomass).  NDVI is used for things more than just biomass or plant health, but alas I’m not the one pushing these projects it seems.  I’ll try to use some of the lidar data to do a new classification.
