|DEPARTMENT CO-SPONSORS SCREENING OF NEW RUBEN SALAZAR FILM
The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication is co-hosting the special screening of the new PBS film “Ruben Salazar: Man in the Middle,” the an independent and thorough investigation of Salazar’s life and death. The screening, which will be co-hosted with CSULB’s Department of Chican@/Latin@ studies, will take place mid-March.
|STUDENT RECEIVES SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE BLACK JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
CSULB journalism student Teberina Johns (featured left, with NBC’s Beverly White) was recently awarded a scholarship by the Black Journalists Association of Southern California (BJASC) during the association’s 2013 Scholarship Awards Reception, which took place on Sunday, Dec. 15, at The Historic Wilfandel House, in Los Angeles. The competitive scholarship is awarded to African American students living in Southern California who demonstrate a commitment to journalism or a career in news media. BJASC, which is affiliated with the National Association of Black Journalist, is committed to improving opportunities for black journalists and the coverage of African Americans in Southern California.
