Model United Nations

Model United Nations (MUN) at the Beach

What is MUN?

Welcome to MUN at the Beach! Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulated experience in which students can model what it means to represent a county on the international stage of the United Nations, working collaboratively with other countries to tackle the world’s most pressing issues. Students at CSULB can participate in MUN through the club, or through POSC 378 – Politics and Practices of the UN, or both!

Being part of MUN means students will register and participate in MUN conferences throughout the U.S. and the world! Historically, MUN at the Beach has traveled to local conferences in southern California, regional conferences in San Francisco, CA, national conferences in New York, NY and international conferences in Bonn, Germany, Salamanca, Spain, and Almaty, Kazakhstan.

While this is an exercise in diplomacy and negotiation, conferences recognize outstanding delegates in each committee. These delegates receive an award and/or certificate, and the student recognized as the best delegate of the committee receives a gavel.
