Western Regional Invitational Tournament
December 3-4, 2010
Your students are cordially invited to participate in the Western Regional Invitational Tournament to be held at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) in Long Beach, California. Long Beach is located in southern California in southern Los Angeles County. CSULB is 35 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. Long Beach has its own airport which is very close to campus. It is also fairly close to LAX and John Wayne International airports.
Two-person teams will be required to present oral arguments in at least three and possibly four preliminary rounds on Friday afternoon/evening, December 3, 2010. Teams will represent both petitioner and respondent at least once. The top qualifying teams (the number will depend on the overall size of the field) will advance to compete on Saturday, December 4, 2010. Written briefs are not required.
Interested teams are invited to email Lewis Ringel at Lringel@csulb.edu and to return the registration form found on the web site. The registration fee is $ 100.00 per team. $150 if received late. No team will compete without paying this entrance fee. Food and beverage will be provided Friday evening and Saturday morning and afternoon. We want to include as many teams and schools. However, it is possible that we will not be able to accommodate all requests for inclusion. It is possible that we will place a maximum on the number of teams per school or have to reject requests to participate. Please register early to increase the odds of getting an invitation. Registration deadline is Nov 1, 2010. Late submissions will be considered, but may be rejected.
