Master’s Program In Applied Sociology

Welcome to the Applied Sociology Master’s Program at California State University, Long Beach.  The Master’s Program in Applied Sociology is an evidence-based, policy-driven course of study designed to link the Long Beach and surrounding communities to the University. The Master’s Program is based on the premise that research best serves the community when it is grounded in sociological insight, linked with community engagement, and guided by a commitment to social justice.

Our program is designed to prepare you to apply sociological perspectives and methods to analyzing and solving social problems. Built-in program flexibility will allow you to tailor your coursework and research to match your specific academic and career goals, while core courses provide the strong theoretical and methodological grounding required to be effective practitioners in the field of applied social research or to pursue doctoral study.
