Guest Lecture – "Occupied by Instagram: Israeli Military Rule in the Social Media Age"

Screen Shot 2014-04-15 at 2.33.49 PMOn April 28 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Middle Eastern Studies Program is organizing a guest lecture from Duke University’s Dr. Rebecca Stein, who will be discussing the interplay between new media technologies and Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories from 1967-present. Her focus will be on the ways in which the Israeli military and militarized Israeli publics are employing social media to support and sustain Israeli military rule. Dr. Stein asks, “how is Israeli militarism, in state and civilian hands, being transformed in the age of digital media?”
