On March 28, local business leader Kraig Kojian, President and CEO of Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), hosted seven students and Associate Dean Amy Bippus from CSULB’s College of Liberal Arts for the CLA’s new Mentor Lunch program. Students Spencer Darbey, Cecily Clark, Jennifer Kim, Christian Walker, Ana Garcia, Allison Gallagher, and Luis Carcano toured the office of the business-based improvement association and learned about the political advocacy, tenant management, and marketing and event planning work of the organization. Mr. Kojian explained his path to success, from his own background as a Political Science and Journalism/Communication major, to a position with the California Angels Baseball Club, which culminated to his current position as President and CEO of DLBA. Over lunch, the students had the opportunity to ask Mr. Kojian’s advice about their career aspirations and educational plans. The students came away from this Mentor Lunch experience with valuable ideas for applying their Liberal Arts education to their own career paths and preparing for the job market.
